Stash Project TOP Completed

Remember this post where I said I was doing the Stash  Project by Judy, and I posted pics of my fabric all cut up- then I posted  progress of my blocks coming together...then I had a nah I'm not in the mood to go near the machine or fabric day..lucky it only lasted 1 day..

I busied myself with block placement and settled on this which took me hours I might add...

Then Judy posted the Stash Project Setting ,Well today I have been connected to my machine like a bit of gum on the sole of your shoe collected from the footpath.

Errmm needless to say I have done nothing else today but sewn, and I what's more I enjoyed every minute.

And tada I have finished my TOP of the Stash Buster Project.

P1030192

Had too shoo the darn cat off the back of the couch like 5 times, she thought I was playing a game and kept running across the back..

Now when Judy did her first post about this project she said if we don't like our Project we could just finish the top and send it to her and she would complete it into a quilt and donate it too an orphanage in Louisiana, a QOV or a veterans’ home .

ahh alas Judy's Stash Project has livened up something in me and I love my top and will be making it into a quilt soon as I can get some batting.

Big Thanks and lots a quilty Hugs to you Judy's generosity  for sharing this project for many to enjoy,I have enjoyed making this even with the head muddle I had a couple of posts  ago...

Stash Project Head - Buster

Judy has revealed her COMPLETED quilt  for the stash buster project ,my oh my how fab.

OH my this has been doing my head in, that tends too happen if I be thinkin about something too much..so today I just pulled a couple of diff fabrics and threw them on my blocks if nothing jumped then away they went well dang within minutes the borders where selected, see it don't pay for me too think too much specially when this is a STASHBUST project.

Now nothing matches in this it's all totally scrapped.

P1030186

Blocks all laid out making sure there was a kinda dark-light pattern.

P1030190

and this is what the borders will be...now I'm not a blue colour person ,but I remember this bit of blue was in the remnant bin and only cost me .75Cents.So

you see I will have the blue paisley kinda fabric then a thin brown silhouette fabric then the purpley-burgundy kind fabric.

Will still be interesting too see what this all looks like made up?

Cheers Vickie.

Bargain buy.

You have seen my meandering messy stitch  yes?

Well I have come a tad attached to doing it but get annoyed with having to change all the settings when I want to sew normally-so last week I had a brainwave...hmm wonder if I could pick a cheap machine and just use it for messy meandering-now I did mean cheap cause I am not working at the moment-so I headed off to ebay arghhh nope anything cheap was a tad too aged for moi..So off to oztion I went and I could not believe what I saw so I immediately placed a bid

And I won yeah yipee for me,well it arrived Tuesday and I have been playing with it and it works wonderfully and my boing boing foot(darning foot)-fits it perfectly..

P1030184

Well I was shocked when this arrived the box is in perfect condition and the machine looks brand new...and I paid a total of $81.oo including postage (which can be the killer)for it.

For some reason today I don't have any desire too sew, therefore I am taking myself off for a thrift shop hop..have a good day all.

Stash Project Blocks

I have started sewing my Stash Project Blocks today,

hmm feel a tad blocked in no way the colour range here has given me a name for this project and it is

"Projects Revisited" as some of these scraps are from things I have made-the rest is from op-shop scores..

I am so happy that Judy has done this project for blogland to enjoy..there is no way I would of ever sewn these together like I have..

so here is some progress pics from today.

P1030179

Dark centres with light borders-1 more border to go on the bottom (so to speak)

P1030180

light centres with their matching rectangle sewn on-3 borders to still sew on.

NEST-MODA CHARM PACK Table Runner

Nice and bright for the dull days of wet season,

I made this using a moda charm pack called NEST the pattern can be found MODA SITE.

Normally I would not work with such small ric-rak on a machine sewn project but this ric-rak cost me $1 for a card of about 4 metres,at the local thrift store .

NEST

I one day will remember to iron before I take pics eh?

Can you see what's checking it out in the left hand bottom corner-yep that darn Leave(cat)

I had to scoot her off it 3 times before I could get a pic..

Great SUmmer Mystery QUilted

Thanks a million Helen for the joy of this and the many tips along the way.

Now having just read Helen's most recent post and following a link to a picture of

quilt made up from the pattern used for the mystery Quilt ,I have to be honest and say if I had seen this picture first I would not have been tempted to do the quilt,I am so glad I did not peek when Helen gave a link in her first posting re this Mystery-cause I now have a pattern I love to assemble..

yeah yipee, I have quilted the whole The Great Summer Mystery Quilt.  lt with my messy meandering stitch...

there were times when this pushed my limits but I am so glad I trudged along,

I know by no means is this perfecto but it's grand too me...

P1030157

And I have not one fold or crease on the back "yippitydoodahday",

P1030155

oopsy missed trimming  a few threads there, well hey I was so excited to have it done I just quickly grabbed the camera and went outside....

I'm not sure which fabric I will use for the final wee edge border/binding..

Oh yeah I used 11 full bobbins in quilting this quilt.

Cheers Vickie.

Thanks for  Dropping in.

Mystery Quilt-quilting

thought I'd pop a pic of the messy meandering stitch..on my The Great Summer Mystery Quilt.

It's a long and steady process, and I am happy that I chose to use red thread..and I have only had to double handle stitch, twice (the name my hubby gave to removing crappy stitching)for about 12" square x 2,ah well ya get that eh?

P1030152

So far I have used 8 full bobbins, and am about to pop in #9 but thought I'd take a pic and share instead....

Humbug Pattern Weights

Well look at this nifty wee tutorial by Tracy Mad Quilter  <--Tracy's blog name not me being rude...

I have some old weights from when work replaced the vertical blinds that I use in the sewing room, but these are much niftier and pwetty...

So I opened up a scrap box and grabbed the first bit of fabric I saw and whipped these up tooo easy..

P1030147

It's mighty grim light here at the moment with all the cloud cover and rain -so pic ain't the best but you can get the idea.

Thanks Tracy for sharing,

Cheers Vickie

Wonky Houses

Yeah it's only taken me three days to complete but I have my first Wonky House done,

takes me ages to do hand stitchin due to some loss of function with my right arm,

but if I really want to do something -I just plod along and get it done.

As I'm not really into colours much I choose to complete this all in one colour.

P1030144

I could not do the writing (HOME) so I just tried to make it look like a basket of hanging plants...

Thanks Jenny I am enjoying this.

Little bags made

My sewing machine is sure getting a workout as of late and what's even betterah is that all is working out well..

I love making this bag pattern I think it's cute the pattern can be found Dotted Dream.

P1030132

Are they not just the cutest eh?

The ones with the pink and orange top are going all the way down to Corio for 2 little girlies down there who love going shopping with their nana (Mrs D).

Blinky Bill was hiding in a tub of fabric bits so I made him up as well-and he has no home at the moment.

Another Great Summer Mystery

OH my I think I'm addicted...lol...can you be adddddddcited to a pattern?

Well I would have to say this is the bestest pattern I have done thus far....

Such clear and easy to follow instructions all the way...

Helen from hugnkisses has shared her time with blogland doing a step by step

The Great Summer Mystery Quilt.

this could be a quilt or a tablecloth  depending of what fabric you use,

I have made this one today  for our huge kitchen table....

P1030129

Of courcerous it's got chook /rooster on it hehehe,

P1030130

The only fabric I had too purchase was for the trellis(brown) and that was a bargain @$3 a metre,

I think it blended in nicely...am thinkin a wide border of chooks running around will complete this.

I have the sewing bug baddddddd today am off too start on some we girl bags.

for generously sharing her time and talent over the wide wide world web, for so many to share and enjoy.

I am planning to give this quilt too my niece for her new baby girl Layla-Jayde ,I am thinking it will be a good size quilt for on the floor

but maybe just a tad too bright, ermmm then again it will be stimulating for the eye eh?

So here it is....

Was a tad difficult trying to get a photo as a certain cat kept wanting to lay on it grrr..

P1030114

And I am going to make this again , this time I have fabric planned .

Debbie Mumm 2008 BOM Complete

clip_image002yippety doodah yippety day, my oh my what a wonderful dayclip_image002[1],

Ok I know cut the singing out but hey I'm so happy I have completed another project for Jan, and that is my Debbie Mumm 2008 Christmas Wishes Quilt.

My quilt look's a tad different from what is on the site , I had to make this with what I could rustle up from thrift stores and remnant bins,

This quilt tested my abilities with some of the wee block pieces but I am so glad I persevered.

One big thing I learnt was..do not change sewing machines in the midst of a project..

I did not know how to quilt it, however I decided to practice free motion meandering stitch messy stitch , so 4 hours and only 2 broken needles later, yeah it is complete.

DMUMM2008

When I showed it too Hubby he said “wow that looks antique well done”-I take that as a high compliment from him LOL.

Mystery QUilt begins

Well I have only been trying to make this post for several days ,and technical problems have been a plenty..

I believe they are all ironed out now.

Like I said in previous post I am doing the The Great Summer Holiday Mystery ,took me ages and a mess of fabric everywhere

to select my fabrics , then in all my wisdom I decided to clean up and rearrange my fabric on Sat morning and dang it I put the fabric away arghhh...
Soooo I once again hunted for fabric and ended up selecting fabric that was in a to be used for backing pile-really outtta my comfort zone..

P1030088

ready set lets cut

P1030090

and lets sew part 1 and 2

part 3 is in progress..will post more soon

WHoops I dun it.

hmm I am about too start a new project BUT I am not buying any new fabric to complete it I am using totally from my stash..

Helen from hugsnkisses is hosting The Great Summer Holiday Mystery.

greatholidaymysterylogoHelen's chosen fabrics look great , I am being strong and will not peek and will steadily work along as sections are revealed...

I shall post a pic of my fabric selection when the camera charges up.

Nothing to do with CRAFT

Ok here is a random post-yep they do happen sometimes.....

I was walking past one of the local thrift stores the other day and I spotted these 2 pyrex dishes sitting on a counter...

oh me oh my I just so loooved the pink one..so I went inside to check the price tag and blow me down with a feather they were only $4.95 each, which is a great price 'cause they both had their lids and not a mark on them...usually these with lids are around $10-$15 each and $6-$8 without lids...so need I say more they just had too come home with me

casssidh

Don't they jus look so sweet eh?

cassinner

the inside of the lemon one has a permanent divider -I can think of many instances where that will be mighty useful.

cheers Vickie
