Package Exchange Project

I recently participated in the Magic Garden Swap hosted by Teresa the theme for this swap was The   Secret Garden (as in the book)..and you were to send your partner 5 items.
Now it took me a bit to work out what to make for my partner but once I got into it I had a ball..
My partner was a new to me blogger Shez.
I ended up grabbing some pictures on line and printing them onto the special fabric-then they sat for couple of days whilst something came to mind to make out of them.packet swap 004

Photo’s courtesy of Shez’s blog thank you.
I ended up making a journal cover out of one picture and an umbrella cover out of the other..hmm do you know how hard it is to buy an umbrella up here when it’s not wet season yet..but I hunted and found one phew…
packet swap 003
I also included fabric and pattern for a pin cushion, some gorgeous wood buttons with flowers on them and some charms,a variety of floral ribbon and a small roll of Moda patisserie-I’m sure they have some delicious name they are 1½”strips.
Today my package arrived from Shez..

P1050130
The contents of my package, some beautiful Holyhocks seeds.A lovely pattern 3 different fabrics and some special items made for me with the most gorgeous chooky fabric.

Retro Nine Patch

Oh my..Oh my smiles and tears at the same time…

I now  show you a picture of my retro Nine Patch table cloth that I made from the lovely bom that Lyn shared with us,there where times whilst stitching this that I nearly gave up..like when my stitches were irregular & I had used the wrong colour thread-but no I persevered unpicked and restitched and I am so glad I did. I decided to make the bigger version (as I had plenty of table topper size tops) and then when I go to the piecing at the end realized I did not have enough fabric and big hunt was on and I luckily found some very very similar on ebay-purchasing as 8fat¼’s was not the most economical way,but at least it all blended well.I used clear thread and just did my wonderful messy meandering stitch.

P1050117 [800x600]

A huge big big thanks to Lyn for sharing this with us.

It was great to see the how the other girls made theirs, why not pop on over on over and have a look they are all great-and show individuality.

Simone  Karen Sherry

The quilts were judged and I was shocked to find out I had come 1st,hence the smiles and tears.

Finally crafty photos.

I recently joined a couple of swaps and now that the items have been received I can finally show pics..

First swap was a Brown Paper Bag Swap hosted by Clare’s Craftroom on FB.

(A Paperbag swap is where you send 1 fat¼ of fabric and some buttons, ribbon, etc.)

This is what I made for my partner Maria who can be found @ veryspecialcreations.

P1050086

And since I had a small bit of fabric left I also made this.

P1050084

Just loved the wee bows.

P1050085

I sent my Maria a fat ¼ with chooks on it and was totally gobsmacked when my package  arrived.

P1050089

A lovely oven mitt and a superb pincushion.I love my items very much thanks again Maria.

P1050090

Each segment of chook fabric has a chook on it and this pincushion  is a whopping 10” round, and it has wee pockets on the edges. I have been saying for ages I need to make a bigger pincushion and was just stoked when I opened this package.

The next swap was the Once a Season Swap hosted by Cheryll over at Gone Stitchin, and theme was Spring.

P1050088

This is what I made for my Peta, I also sent her a Tilda book and I popped in some buttons and some wee pegs with lady beetles on the pockets. The fabric is yellow daffodils.

Peta mads the most gorgeous item and truly never thought I would ever call one of these gorgeous in my life..

P1050109

See that snail it is so dang cute. Also there was some lovely pouches with flower seeds in them and a beautiful fat ¼ withy bright flowers..loved them all thanks again Peta.

I love these hanging bags I have many and not one is used for pegs.

Saturday, 20 August 2011

Wow where has the month gone?

I know I have finished some items and pics will be posted soon as they are at their intended homes.

One thing that is for sure is my muscles in my right leg are wasting so we went and got me a bike…I practised around the paddock first and now go out on the road-am still a bit scared for if a dog comes running out of a property and barks it’s head off, I reckon that will send me over the handle bars…

P1050101

There you go my friend yes you here is your piccie……

Didn’t even know hubby took this one, I had just finished growling at our Brown dog to get out of the darn way…

P1050103

Then when I stop he says hey how about a photo, cheeky man..this was the first time since Tuesday that I could ride.

Have had shocking ringing, bells, ocean, roaring in my ears truly drove me bonkers Wednesday night, went to the Dr on Thursday she says I have tinnitus – and I need to go see the ENT Specialist when he next comes to Darwin. She gave me a script for some pills –and boy they are horrid..side effects I have had=nausea=headache=drowsiness=dislike of the full sun just to name a few, anyways if I don’t notice any difference by tomorrow afternoon I am to stop taking them (no difference so far).

Also I have decided that since my 400th post fell in the month of August, I am going to include all who have left whispers on my blog in the month for a prize..hmm I may just have 2 prizes…

Cheers Vickie

Thanks for stopping by..

p.s. just remembered I have some pics to show..will save it for a post of it’s own.

Still no pictures

I honestly have been sewing but it has been giftie sewing, so I can’t show pictures.

(Have not been in much of an email or bloggy mood this past week, but feel that phase has now passed.)

But I have enjoyed making the items very very much, took 1 packet to the post office to mail then remembered I had not taken a Photo,so I bought it home again only to uncover it again this morning-sometimes I don’t know where my head is at.

Excited much my giveaway item arrived.

My knee has stopped having the cortisone flares thank goodness, and it is still paining me if I am in  the same position for too long, like doing the ironing I almost feel it will remain this way.  We went to the Northline speedway last night as my friend’s son races a wingless sprint car. It was a lovely night out I sat there with hubby and knitted till the light disappeared (oh yeah I’m knitting my first ever shawl, I’ll just jump over to FB and grab a pic-not the best as I took it quickly with my phone but I will post a better one as I progress).

shawlThe pattern is called Holden Shawelette.

After the races had finished we walked back to the car too put the chairs, etc in . Then we headed back down the road to go to the pits and next think we knew there I was flat out on the asphalt, not sure how it happened (my right knee had been a bit sore and I was walking ever so carefully)-perhaps it gave way?  Anyways hubby quickly got me up (as the way to the pits is to walk down the in/out road which had cars going out).

Result was my new jeans have the knee ripped out of them, I’ve lost some skin of my knee cap and have grazing down the side of my leg-and guess what it’s my good leg, so feeling a bit stiff and sore today-but I am sure it will pass quickly.

P.S. I’m good at asking questions and sometimes they are real dumb but anyways here goes…Is there a program you can like pop all your block pictures into-to work out like the final layout??You know what I mean eh?

Farmers Wife QAL

Firstly thankyou to those that have gifted me some 1930’s fabric, some has arrived and makes me go wow at your generosity and wow at how some different fabrics can make my blocks looks so great.

Have seen some of the other amazing girls blocks over at Amanda or Angela’s?

During the week I try and cut out the bits required for a few blocks and then store them in the book on the relevant pages (actually that is were I am storing my made blocks as well), so that as time permits over the weekend I can sew, sew, sew.

P1050009

Blocks 7,8,9 &10.

I grounded myself to the armchair Friday & Saturday (to try and get this dumb knee to play the game) and managed to knit myself a pair of fingerless mitts –hard to take a picture of your own hand and hubby is busy-so will pop a picture up next post.

This afternoon after I had done the FW blocks I did some secret sewing, but can’t show you a pic or it would reveal the secret.

Cheers Vickie

FNSI Time again

Well it's time to join Wendy and the others for a bit of stitching. To he honest not sure how much  I will  achieve, as yesterday I had...
