2nd item finished in January and more

I am so happy with the way this one has turned out...I did not really have any idea what I was going to do with the stitcheries once I finally got around to doing them-but too me it is a real triumph to get them done(due to my now limited use of right arm from elbow to finger tips).They may not be proper stitches or done in a uniform way but they are jus me, doing it my way to get it done..these 2 stitcheries were drawn by Cath from Cathron Country Designs.

Now the fabric around these was a bag I picked up for $1  from the local thrift store and they were all cut into 1½" strips -and when I got these  like ermmm 18 months ago I just started sewing them into log cabin blocks -then I ran outta the green so they jus sat around ,until Thurs Night when I finished the stitcheries then I realized they would suit....

Since I had now completed 2 items - I decided I could make something new ..hehehe, and whipped up these bags for a friends granddaughters who arrive this week for  Darwin-Humpty Doo holiday.

One item completed

well I am happy to say that one item has been completed, I took it to work with me and worked on it at lunch time.

this is the front as it will be used in the lounge.

I could easily make another one of these as I loooooove ric-rak,

This is the back for when I wish to use it in the kitchen.

Christmas Wishes BOM-Debbie Mumm

Ok I am off to a good start with my one project a month challenge and have now sewn all the blocks together and done the applique.....am now doing some ummin' and ahhinn'..cause I really want to add buttons to this top so I have buttons everywhere while I try too decide what will work for me..

Hopefully I will come to a decision soon,

One Project a MONTH Challenge

Whilst out surfing blogland I came across one project a month discussion about Kris and  May Britt and her friend

Hanne , about them finishing off some wisp (works in slowprogress) lol they said it sounds softer than UFOs(unfinished objects) and I have too agree..

so pop on over to any one of thier blogs and have a read of the guidelines -they are sooooooo simple...

Ok motivation is the key,now surely it won't be too hard to complete at least one project a month all year eh?

Mini Booty Christmas Swap

After participating in the miniature booty swap hosted by Toni , I jumped at the invite to participate in the mini Booty Christmas swap with much joy.

MY secret partner was Dorian ,who has a love of chooky things like me so her makings's for me came very easy for her.

 

This awesome panel has a huge rooster with Welcome and 4 mini panels as well,

not sure yet which direction I am going to go with this panel I have 2 things in mind..

may mount them all individually for hanging on the kitchen wall  (when it is renovated)

OR I may make the welcome into a large centre table mat and the four wee ones into placemats-probably will go with this idea as the renovations aren't going to happen any time soon....

Also got this mini hanger and some red fabric and a wee wooden sleigh from a local crafter and a ever useful Mary Engelbreit little storage tin.

Now isn't this the most awesome lookin chooky , perfect colours for me ..

man look at them wee flying geese they are soo teeny weeny...

What a wonderful swap to participate in and now I have some time I can sit and share a few words and some photos with you all.

Donna hosted this swap, and my secret partner was Maria Elena all the way from Chille ,

Look at this beautiful bag the applique is so neat and the colours are so perfect for me..sitting on the top right hand corner  of the bag is a pair of lovely copper earrings   of the indigenous people "Diaquitas" northern of Maria's country.

Spirit of Christmas Swap

Janet from Wildcraft Farm had a late call for the Spirit of Christmas and organized a swap,well I just had too participate didn't I.This was a one on one swap.

My swap partner was Isabella from Ijustlovetostitch, here is a pic of the bag I made for Isabella-I also included some other items-but for the life of me I can't remember what they were.

I am so happy to hear that this bag has met Isabellas needs on her friday outings-I did not have a pattern I just made it up as I went along.I will admit I kinda nearly kept it-but decided nope off in the mail it must go,but I shall be making myself one very soon...

I received my parcel from Isabella on friday, and at Isabella's request I opened it..looky here

Whilst browsing late last night I spied that Rhonda had opened her parcel from me and was happy with the contents ..yaaahhh I love a happy face......the item was too be a mini quilt in a theme of Christmas or something your secret partner may of requested...

Rhonda had said she would like a homey type scene..so this is what I came up with...

Thrift Store Grab

Well I have been too busy making items for swaps-but alas can't show you any pics ..

So I thought I would share 2 items I picked up in a thrift store for $5 total....

I can see a nice summery bag or 2 being made from these, my work colleague was with me and she just could not understand why I was buying 2 wee items...LOL..when I told her I was going to cut them up she was horrified and said they were too pretty, ermm some people jus don't get it eh?

New Bird on the Block

Just thought I'd share a new return visitor we have had for the past couple of weeks.....

He just walks around the paddock within in a couple of metres of the house eatin' nuts of trees-

the dogs to not go near him and when he has had his fill he then flies up and sits in the tree..

Usually we have about 8 to 10 of them  fly through the paddock making a hellava racket but for some reason this one has decided to he will stay for a tad.....

Swaps away

well being stuck at home with the foot again..has not been pleasant the weather is dreadful even as I type the temp has risen to 40cel-and waaaaaaah woe is me I can't go in the pool ...

At least I have managed to get some sewing done slowly...

this box of goodies has headed of to the UK..I received my box from the UK today what a quick mail service it was mailed from the UK on fri just gone-So I hope mine arrives in the same timely manner....

these items have started their journey way aways...to my SSCS (hosted by Chookyblue)partner-sure hope she enjoys them,

Quick March-NOT-and a SNAKE

Well gee it sure has been fun at our place not....

As some are aware I had my foot operated on the 8th Oct...Got a slight infection but quickly got rid of that with some antibiotics and I was just hobbling along nicely-wasn't lookin fwd to Mon22nd Oct as that was suture removal day...

anyways Sunday night Hubby decides to liven things up jus a tad..well he didn't do it on purpose ,he was carrying a 30kilo (approx) UPS-uninterruptible power supply-which is kinda a need to have up here during the wet season..

well he gets all the way -but 1 step from the top of the stairs and BD (dog) decides it might be best if he moved outta the way-well umm yep you guessed it he moved the wrong way and back went poor hubby and the UPS to almost the bottom of the stairs--some lovely language followed and BD did not get a whack..but oh dear hubby's foot ballooned up real big..

So the 2 of us hobble of to the dr on Mon to get my stitches out the surgeon just looked at us and giggled..

Tuesday am I finally get hubby to agree maybe need to see a DR..well ..well.well he has a yukky fracture on the fifth metatarsal ,ON THE LEFT FOOT-..no plaster just has too keep it strapped up and  elevated.....Dr says it will take approx 6-8 weeks to heal-and hubby is not to  do any work with the tools till then..so  he gets to go back to work in another 10 days , for office duties for several weeks ekkkk -he is going to love that NOT...

So as you can imagine we pair look a treat hobblin along..

then today just was crappy power kept going on and off all day -

then I walked into the laundry and something smelt funny so I told hubby and a lot of hobblin and shufflin this is what we got out of there

 As you can see the flippin thing was chopped in half and it was still trying too bite the shovel icky - kicky pooo...sorry to reptile lovers but up here with so many diff varieties of snakes the only good ones are dead ones

Not much Fun

My oh my it's been 2 weeks since my last post,


well I had not been feeling the best so there was scarce posting anywhere from me...


Then I went in for my op on my foot last Wed-go back to dr today and hopefully will get the pathology results.


Am on crutches and can't really do much as my foot has to be raised at most times.





So I thought I'd post a couple of pics of what happened at our place on Saturday.



One helluva big truck delivering one of Hubby's 40ft containers.

Little miss Delta freaking out 'cause the big truck came into her yard....

And way up the back the truck goes to deposit the container in situ

Miss Delta quickly finds another hiding place.
Then 1 hour later when the other container arrived Miss Delta was nowhere to be found she hid good and proper and only reappeared after the truck had gone...


So now hubby has 2- 40ft containers side by side with a 5metre gap in between, he will put a roof across the top and have a nice open work area free from the weather..
But there is more--this means under the house will be clutter free of his stuffs yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaah...

My bag Arrived

Oh my goodness , my bag from the bag swap hosted by Linda

has been waiting for me at my PO BOX...and I was finally able to collect it today,as I had been out of the state for a week...

my partner was Rose Marie-thankyou so much I am glad you were able to part with it and send it on to me.......

wow it's a treat and a lovely blend of colours and such a huge size,

I will be taking this bag to hospital with me next wek it will be perfect to fot all my bits'n' bobs in...

Rose Marie also included to lovely bright fat q's-have earmarked them already for a up coming project..psssst if you havn't been to Rose Maries blog go have a look she does the most awesome applique,

Not much activity here with sewing lately..been planning what to do for a couple of secret santa swap's hmmm will post some sneaky peeks in a few weeks.......

But I thought I'd share a couple of short videos of Trevor the Rainbow Lorikeet taking a bath in a bowl at the local golf club,this is not our bird but a friends he is a real character of a bird as you will see,

Now the bath is finished with I'll take a bow and go and answer the phone (listen you can hear him ringing the phone)

Did you see someone with thier mobile phone taking videos too ,there was like 4 people I think with thier phones but for some strange reason I had my camera in my bag ---yipee.

Right place Right Time

Well I just happened to be in Spotlight (large fabric store)the other day...

and was having a rustle thru the remnant bin when one of the girls(staff)

came over to me and said you can fill a bag with remnants for $5..

I'm like oh ok thanks...

Then she came back with an empty bag GAWD my eyes nearly popped outta me head....
heres me thinking standard plastic shopping bag NOPE...t'was this huge bag

then she stood there and helped me fill it with only cotton fabrics,there is heaps of it-excellent for project backings..etc...for $5 yeaaaaaaah

Bag Swap

yeah the bag I made for my partner in Lindas Bag/Bucket Swap has arrived safe and sound...

all the way from Humpty Doo, Northern Territory too Sweden

and from the email I received from Marcia she likes it

So I thought it only fitting I share a full pic now....

The crossstich was a bargain @$1 in an op shop -it was in a horrid plastic frame but I just removed it and washed it and kept it away for the right project and I'm pleased with how it all came together,the colours of the butterfly lead me to fabric colours for the bag..

Pin Cushion Swap

 

Well look what finally made it to my Post Office Box today- it's my pincushion from the swap hosted by Linda - my swap  partner was Alison, this surely must of come by boat as it took 2 months to get here...and I love it it's so cute...thankyou so much Alison.

The cutest cup cake pincushion and a lovely handmade card ,a cute little notebook with sheep on it and a wooden crow (he is cute).

Have you met HARRY?

Hmm not sure if I have introduced you all to Harry Harriet, he she is a rainbow lorikeet that was given to us last year oh and Babe who is a cockatiel was also given too us as well.. But this post is about Harry Harriet, who is a very happy bird says hello,whatya doin,whats up,does a mighty woofwhistle, dances and generally is very entertaining and believe it or not he she posses for the camera, yep true.Have a look at these pics.

Hey can you see what I surprised mum'n'dad with this morning? Yep see that wee white thing near my pink water bowl it's an "EGG"...Oh no now they are calling me Harriet......

Looks like I was cutting "Babe" out in the pic above so here is one of both of them in their respective cages.

Let me add these birds have known no other life they have always lived in the cages and they are very happy birdies.

Keeping the mind busy.

 

When things are really stressful it is great to be able to totally absorb yourself in something you enjoy, and just loose yourself in a new creation and this is what I have done these past few days-my craft has saved me from going being certified stir crazy more than once I can assure you.

A friend picked up this book for me at a op shop, I have read and re read it all week then jumped in too action and made some blocks..

I am happy with the way it is shaping up..yep there is some slight errors uniqueness in there but ahh that’s me…

Guess what arghh I don't have enough green for the side setting triangles hmmm eekkkk..

This could look spectacular with some of the stunning fabrics that are available eh?

Ahh just had a thought-yeah I know pretty darn scary eh?

I'll just have too join 2 halves to get the correct size yeah got it all worked out-now off to get it done.

Mini Booty Swap

Well now I can share the finished pic of my item I made for the Miniature Booty Swap hosted here, my partner was Sarah , Sarah had requested something that symbolized your country,or some other things fabric breeds I was not sure of, so I decided since I live in a part of indegineous Australia I would make something too reflect that-

it was a tad tricky but I wa svery happy with the end result..has received the item I made for her and she likes it yeah,I also sent Sarah a wee Australian booklet with lovely photos and I wrapped her mini quilt insome fabric and also incled a knit /hair-pin (don't know what you use them for but it was nice.

Hanging uppp this looks a tad crooked,but it's just cause I popped it over a photo hanging on the wall to take the pic.
